Ingredients

2 large eggs

½ cup whole milk (or a non-dairy alternative like almond milk)

1 tablespoon sugar (optional for a sweet version)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of salt

4 slices of bread (brioche, challah, sourdough, etc.)

Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions

In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar (if using), vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat and add butter or oil.

Dip each slice of bread into the batter, letting it soak for about 20 seconds per side.

Let excess batter drip off before placing the bread on the skillet.

Cook each side for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter or oil as needed.

Serve warm with maple syrup, fresh fruits, or savory toppings like cheese and avocado.

                Notes

                • Use slightly stale bread to prevent sogginess.
                • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or orange zest to the batter.
                • Adjust cooking time for different bread thicknesses.
                • To store leftovers, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
